Frequently Asked Questions about Donating Items

What items can be donated? Items that are in good, usable condition such as couches, tables, chairs and other household fixtures.  We can also donate small house wares such as pots, pans and dishes as well as bedding and linens.  In some cities, mattresses cannot be dontated.  Please visit our community partners page and click thru to the local partners in your area to find a detailed list of items accepted.

Who receives my donations?  Our community partners work with various non-profit and government agencies who help indiviuals and families.  These can be refugees, battered woman and children as well as homeless individuals and families moving from the streets into housing.

How can I prepare my items for donation?  Please visit our tips for donating page.

What happens to the items that are not donated?  Unfortunately not every item we pick up is suitable for donation.  Further, sometimes our community partners lack space to house every donation.  If we cannot find a home for an item, we will try to recycle it.  If it is not recycable, we take it to the appropriate disposal facility.

Can I drop items off myself? In most cases, our commuity partners accept items for drop off.  Please visit our community partners page to find the details for the charity in your area.

Why do you donate?  We believe in giving back to our communities.  We are fortunate that through our people and customers, we can donate gently used items to individuals and families in need.
